Your jewellery is made to be treasured. A little everyday care will help preserve its beauty and keep it in good condition.
Everyday care
Put your jewellery on after applying perfume, lotions, sunscreen and other beauty products.
Remove it before swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping or doing household and manual work. Chemicals, friction and sudden knocks can damage metals, gemstones and settings.
Avoid contact with bleach, household cleaners and abrasive products.
Cleaning your jewellery
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, clean cloth after wearing it.
The safest cleaning method depends on the metal, gemstones and any treatments or finishes used in your piece. Contact us for advice before using jewellery cleaning solutions, polishing products, steam or ultrasonic cleaners.
Avoid toothpaste, baking soda, rough brushes and other abrasive cleaning methods.
Gemstones and pearls
Gemstones vary in hardness and care requirements. Even a hard stone can chip if struck, and some stones are sensitive to heat, chemicals or prolonged soaking.
Pearls, opals, emeralds and other delicate or treated gemstones need particular care. Gently wipe them with a soft cloth and ask us for cleaning advice specific to your piece.
Storing your jewellery
Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or a lined jewellery box to prevent scratching and tangling.
Keep jewellery in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Fasten chains before storing them to help reduce tangling.
Settings, clasps and repairs
Check your jewellery regularly for loose stones, worn claws, damaged clasps or changes in fit.
If a stone moves, a setting catches on clothing or a clasp no longer closes securely, stop wearing the piece and contact us for an inspection.
Avoid bending, adjusting or repairing jewellery yourself.
White gold, plated and polished finishes
Surface finishes naturally change with wear. White gold may need its rhodium finish renewed, while plated finishes may gradually wear away. Polished surfaces can develop small scratches over time.
Contact us for advice on cleaning, polishing or restoring the finish of your piece.
